That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going. Do you suppose a few ruts in the road or rocks in the path are going to stop us? When the time comes, we’ll be plenty ready to exchange exile for homecoming. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 Message Translation
There are times in life when we become so focused on the ruts and rocks in our path that we get turned around and lose our sense of direction and purpose. Why did I go this way? What was I thinking? This is too hard! I’m tired! I shouldn’t have done that or gone there.
Yet each day we get up, get dressed and get moving, but moving toward what? I’ve been thinking a lot about that. The only things in life that are worth doing is what I do for others. I love the statement above, “Do you suppose a few ruts in the road or rocks in the path are going to stop us?” Absolutely not! I will continue to cheer people on as they run their race.
“It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.” What do we trust in but don’t yet see? The end or the finish line. We know it’s there somewhere, just ahead, around the next bend in the road, over the next hill, up ahead somewhere is the prize and as long as we don’t stop, we’ll reach our destination.
Yes there will be obstacles, but don’t allow them to stop you. Keep pressing on my friend. You can do this!
